In fact, the main objectives of the psychological operations, both the Sandy Hook school shooting and the Boston Bombing, were to instill fear upon the citizenry, offering the Powers-That-Be a chance to capture that fear and turn it into control, thus paving the way for more gun laws, restrictions, and the over-policing of the American people.

After the September 11 terrorist attacks, insurance companies paid out billions in damages — more than ever before. So in 2002, Congress agreed to help in the future by creating federally insured — and relatively cheap — terrorism coverage for businesses.

Claims under that coverage were filed for the first time after the Boston Marathon bombings. But insurance companies haven’t paid out — because the federal government doesn’t consider the Boston Marathon bombing an act of terrorism.

After the marathon bombings, police and other investigators swarmed downtown and barricaded off whole blocks to examine what’s been called the most complex crime scene in history.

“Nobody knew if there was going to be more bombs or anything,” said Perry Geyer, whose company, Cybersound Studios, is around the corner from the bombing sites on Newbury street. He says as the manhunt for suspects continued, artists from across the country canceled recording sessions and Geyer lost thousands of dollars.

"In the back of my mind, the whole time when this happened, I was like, 'Wow, thank God I have the terrorism insurance — I’m sure this is going to cover it, if this isn’t a terrorist act, then what is?'"

There’s an answer to that question from the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.

In an email yesterday, a spokesperson for the office said they have reviewed the events in Boston, and the treasury secretary did not find that there had been an "act of terrorism" under the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act. That’s the act that Congress passed in 2002 to create this type of federally-backed insurance. Under the law, insurance companies only have to pay claims when property damage tops $5 million and the U.S. Attorney General and the secretaries of state and treasury certify it a terrorist attack. Since that didn’t happen in the case of the marathon bombings, claims like Geyer’s, for $9,000, were denied. He’s since canceled his terrorism coverage.

"Why should I pay if I’m not going to receive anything?" he asked.

It’s confusing for Geyer and other business owners like him, especially since President Obama has called the marathon bombings an act of terror, and the Justice Department’s indictment of suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev charges him with federal crimes of terrorism.

The issue, says Robert Hartwig, president of the Insurance Information Institute in New York, is size and scope. He says terrorism insurance is meant to cover acts on the scale of the September 11 attacks.

“What terrorism insurance does, is it provides protection against those more severe losses — the type of losses that can put you out of business," Hartwig said. "Generally it’s not for the lower level claims that might arise, the less-costly type of claims.”

But Boston Mayor Marty Walsh says any formal distinction shouldn’t matter.

"Regardless of whether or not this was ruled an official act of terrorism, insurance companies should be willing to do anything and everything in their power to assist these businesses,” Walsh said in a statement.

One business is fighting back. Edward Borash says his Sir Speedy print shop on Bolyston still hasn’t fully recovered since it was shut for 14 days after the bombings.

"It was such a terrible, heinous act and I was never going to let a terrorist tell me what to do, or whatever, so I fought so hard to stay in business and be strong here,” Borash said.

He’s suing the agent that sold him terrorism coverage, and his insurance company, Magna Carta, for more than $1 million. Borash’s attorney, James Rudolph, says they misled his client.

"His agent never said, 'Listen, there has to be claims for $5 million, otherwise you’re not going to get anything,'" Rudolph said. "And his insurance agent never said, 'Listen, it has to be declared an act of terrorism by some politicians in Washington.’ Had he been told that, he might have said, 'Well this is ridiculous. They’re never going to do that.’”

Magna Carta declined to comment.

"My client completely denies that it acted improperly, and certainly denies that any misrepresentation was made," said said Kurt Fliegauf, attorney for the agent, Allan Insurance Agency in Salem. "We’re confident that we will prevail on the merits in court.”

As the case progresses, lawmakers in Washington are deciding whether this type of insurance will even continue to exist. If they don’t extend the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, it expires at the end of the year, ending affordable federally backed terrorism coverage.

That would be unfortunate, says Robin Helfand of Robin’s Candy Shop on Newbury Street. She thinks businesses need this kind of protection. She still has her terrorism policy, even though after the marathon bombing, her claim for thousands of dollars lost in unsold truffles was denied.

"But you can imagine my concern," she said. "How do I insure this time that I have coverage because — God forbid a million times over — there’s another incident, I lose everything, and it’s not declared terrorism?”

If it happened again, Helfand says, her business might not survive.

Hello, this is John Robles. I’m speaking with Mr. Nathan Folks, he is a well known US based film and TV director and producer. He is also one of the organizers of the Worldwide Wave of Action and a truth seeker. This is part 2 of a longer interview.

PART 1

Robles: Can you tell us more details about the Boston bombing? Who was behind it exactly and the scheme where they made millions of dollars, as many details as you can, I would appreciate it...

Folks: I think there needs to be an investigation into the One Boston Fund and the money that millions of people gave to that fund which was a complete fraud. And I think that people that are making money of this need to be investigated and by doing so I think the truth will come out. But I also believe that if you do a little bit of homework of who actually is running One Boston Fund that supported a lot of this, it goes right up the line to Homeland Security and the people that wrote books on this exact nature. I am not going to name names but it is all on the writing. It is all documents, it is all there, it is just no one wants to read it and admit it.

Robles: What was the connection with Sandy Hook? Because there was some connection to some crisis actors from Sandy Hook and some people that were funding the Boston fund.

Folks: Yeah, it is very evident that there is a family, a very specific family, I believe the name is Greenberg, that has been used several times in several different events: in Sandy Hook they were the crying parents of one of the deceased boys.

Well, the same woman, the same man they were both used in several different instances, in several different events that have taken place in the last several years and they use the crisis actors over and over. They pay them off once and you know... I won’t be surprised when Carlos Arredondo is another hero of another event...

Robles: And he was at Boston, he was the..

Folks: Carlos Arredondo was the man in a cowboy hat, he was the Boston hero by getting these non-bleeding two-legged-blown-off man to safety. If they honestly believe that we all think that is real, then they have another think coming because that is the biggest joke I have ever seen.

Robles: I remember I studied the photographs of him running through the streets and just the expressions on all of the people’s faces was enough to tell me something was wrong. I mean I remember there was all these people apparently laying on the road and I think...

Folks: Oh yeah. The production designers in the scenes, I mean the makeup artist is in the scene helping everyone and then all of a sudden she is injured, you know, there is pictures of her being injured at the end. I mean, it is just so unbelievably ridiculous that I don’t want this to happen again, I don’t want them to put the country through this again.

Robles: It wasn’t just the country it was the world? I mean, I’m sitting here in Moscow, this was a pretty big thing for us. I mean, we were reporting it all night.

Folks: Yeah, you are right, it is putting the country in chaos and it is wrong.

You know, I know a friend of mine that has kids in school and the kid in school; it traumatized her for months after Sandy Hook. You know, this is just wrong what they are doing. And for whatever reasons they are doing it, it has got to be stopped.

And it’s out and they are going to come after me and they are going to say: “Oh yes he has no remorse for people that have been killed and no remorse for the injured.”

And I want to say: “You know what? Prove it!”

I want to interview every doctor that was used in the Boston Bombing, I’d like to find out where that money really went for the One Boston Fund, I want them to prove it, you know.

If they are going to come out against me and start saying: “Oh, well he has no feelings for all these people that have been killed.” Well, I put it back on them. The world know that this was a sham but no one wants to talk about it. But if they are going to come out and the they want to actually say: “This was real!”

Then I want them to come out and prove it other than these pictures or this media they put on the news. I want to see real proof, because that is what they make us do! Come up with real proof. Let’s see them come up with real proof.

Robles: Can you tell us about the Tsarnaev brothers, I’m sure they would like to see proof and their parents would and their father would and their mother would.

Folks: Well, in my opinion I think they were working with the FBI. I think that most of these incidences they are working with certain government companies, organizations.

I think they would like to see the proof too. I know that there were some lawsuits coming out against certain people that were blamed at first about the incident and I know why he is trying to sue, it is because his name was ruined in an event that never really happened.

So, I’d say: “You know what, join the lawsuit, prove to us and the world that this actually existed and then we will tell you how we really think.”

Robles: As a producer, as a professional with your professional acumen and with a cold professional eye you say: “Boston was a false flag attack organized by…?”

Folks: I believe it was organized by someone and I don’t know who. You can only hope that the government is not involved. You can only hope that we are here doing the right thing, but for whatever the reason it was not real. And anyone in the film industry will back me up that it is very obvious how they edited it and cut and spliced that scene together.

Robles: The biggest evidence that it was false: what would you say that would be?

Folks: I would say that I would look at the One Boston Fund and I would find out where that money went and I would… You know they always say: “Follow the money”, well, I would follow the money.

I’d find out: each one of these people who got money from this situation; why they got money; what public relations firm based out of DC represented all these people (I think that is another “untying” of the rope if you will), and it is just all there, it is all there.

Robles: Why aren’t people screaming about this? Why isn’t there an outcry?

Folks: Because they are controlling the media and the Internet. Even if there is an outcry no one is going to hear it.

We’ve been subject to no more freedom of speech and our constitutional rights here have been eliminated, because I can tell you there are millions and millions of people, millions and millions of Americans that would not stand for this. And I think this is the first chance we have to start to build back any credibility that maybe we ever had.

I think the Bush Administration, after what they have done and the lives they’ve taken from the world, we have a lot of catching up and fixing to do.

I think love needs to be spread now and that is the only thing that really, I’m about.

Robles: I think the only way to restore any kind of credibility is to go after all those people who did all this, from the torture at Guantanamo to 9-11. I think even going back to the Kennedy Assassination which they continue to obfuscate…

Folks: These people need to be held liable for what they’ve done.

Robles: I was happy to hear Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov yesterday say that the US should be held accountable. They should take responsibility for the coup they organized in Ukraine. But that is another entire matter...

Can you tell us about the Worldwide Wave of Action, what that is about and then about your film? And if you’d like to comment on the current media (I don’t know what it is) "alternate reality" that the US has created regarding Ukraine.

Folks: First Run Entertainment is releasing and distributing a film that I’ve produced with a series of producers called: “The Prosecution of an American President” which goes back to the Bush Administration and lies that they told during that administration.

Vincent Bugliosi, who is reported as one of the top prosecutors in the world, who put Charles Manson away, who essentially wrote some of the best books of our time, is the star of this film, showing the evidence of how the Bush Administration lied to the people in order to convince everyone, including Congress, to go to war. And going to a sovereign nation that has never done anything to us and do it based on lies.

People don’t want to hear that but it is something that needs to be said and it needs to be faced and it will. It will eventually come out and people will eventually do something about it.

The time is now! The Worldwide Wave of Action is a campaign: anonymously many people have come together worldwide to promote positive change in the world and expose the truth and expose people that are run by evil companies and evil corporations and evil governments and…

You know, there is good in the world. And that good has to come out somewhere and it has to beat this evil! They have to fight! And the Worldwide Wave of Action is that campaign if the people let it happen.

Robles: Can I ask you a little bit of a personal question if you don’t mind?

Folks: Sure.

Robles: When I first talked to you, about a year ago, you sounded different, you sounded optimistic, you sounded younger, you sounded more innocent, now you sound a little “tired”.  How has this affected you personally if you don’t mind me asking?

Folks: I can tell you that this last year, 2013, was pretty much an awakening for me on many levels. A lot of corporate and “other” situations that are happening, that I don’t know if they are related or not but… When someone is sickened and put in the hospital and abused in certain ways; you are beaten down, but the only thing that it is really to me: I may be tired and I may be pretty much exhausted from working on all these things, but the fire is lit brighter and harder than it has ever been. Because now I see how much more this is important to the world and how the film “The Prosecution of an American President” (as well as the Worldwide Wave of Action) now, is more needed that it has ever been.

I was naïve a year ago. I was blinded by many things and as soon as these things came to light I saw what I needed to do, which was to step up and start making it different and doing it now because no one else seems to be doing it.

And the Worldwide Wave of Action I believe is that exactly: everyone around the world coming together to demand the truth and demand these people to be held responsible.

Robles: Ok, “we” are going to help you any way we can, we are going to get this out as much as we can. It was a great honor speaking with you. I really appreciate you. I know you are actually in real danger, so we will do our best to get this out as much as possible.

Folks: Great! Wonderful! Thank you.

Robles: I think the best thing you can do (and the best thing we can do for you) is publicize everything that you are saying and just for the listeners, one more time: you were really, seriously persecuted; you had to leave your home several times and stuff. I think you should write a book about that sometime.

Folks: Yeah, I think that after we can get everything else out,I can finally sit down and take the time to write something. I’d like to do that.

Robles: Is there anything you want to say about Boston to rap it up? The FBI agents that were killed, the Tsarnaev friend that was killed… Can you comment on those? Do you want to?

Folks: The peripheral people that were involved, we don’t know why they were killed, we don’t know if they were exposing the truth and then killed. I may not be alive tomorrow because I’m talking about it.

There are all these things that we don’t know, there are certain things we just don’t know. But one thing we do know is that there is something really, really smelly about this whole situation and it needs to exposed, it needs to be investigated, even as must as the JFK Assassination.

Robles: As a film producer… (last comment if you could about… a little off topic I’m sorry but) I’ve heard reports from people in the states, from people in Ukraine, from people in Europe, that they’ve watched television reports of tanks rolling through the streets of Kiev, etc. etc., stuff that we know is not happening. Is it possible in 2014 that they are fabricating all this news?

Folks: After Boston I could say that I’m almost positive that they are more than likely fabricating news to create a fear and design the outcome that they want.

When I say ‘they’ I mean the evil people that are pushing for wars and pushing for The Complex and pushing for everything that we are not about. And yeah, I don’t see that it would be above them to do something like that at this point! I think that they definitely have something to do with it. Robles: It is a war not against terror but it is a war using terror, it is a war that is hyped-up “on” terror I think, and they are terrorizing the people.

Folks: It is now a war on freedom of speech, it is now a war on the media and it is a war on the world’s civil liberties and that is the real war we are fighting now.

Robles: Anything else you want to finish up with or?

Marathon IED Drill Ran One Month Before Actual Bombings

One month before the Boston Marathon was attacked with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the Massachusetts State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) hosted a Pre-Boston Marathon Tabletop Exercise. One of the exercise scenarios happened to be an IED explosion during the Marathon. This Lessons Learned document from FEMA details several exercises that were viewed as helping to prepare for the attacks that took place during the Boston Marathon. It states that, “on March 14, 2013, the MA State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) hosted the annual Pre-Boston Marathon Tabletop Exercise,” with a scenario, “focused on an IED explosion.”

Another Lessons Learned document from FEMA mostly repeats the previous one without the specific date, but makes clearer that the drill was for, “an IED incident during the marathon.”

This adds to several other examples of terrorism drills and exercises being planned and run during and around the time of the Boston Marathon.

Last year, a reliable eyewitness running the Marathon reported that there was a drill taking place during the event. Alastair Stevenson, the Cross Country Coach for the University of Mobile Alabama, had run numerous marathons but had never experienced the kind of security activities he saw going on at the Boston Marathon that day. Local15TV.com, an NBC affiliate from Mobile Alabama, interviewed the coach, who questioned whether there might have been some foreknowledge of the attack. Stevenson, told the local newscasters that, “they kept making announcements on the loud speaker that it was just a drill and there was nothing to worry about. It seemed like there was some sort of threat, but they kept telling us it was just a drill.”

The coach’s eyewitness account intensified concerns for many, that security officials had foreknowledge of the attacks and were not being honest with the public. The mainstream media virtually ignored this possibility and instead attacked those who dared to raise the issue. Numerous articles were written, mocking and deriding “conspiracy theorists” yet no major media wanted to talk to the coach from Alabama, whose story had helped spark the “theories.” The majority of the pieces written to debunk challenges to the official account just ignored the story completely.

Attempting to find out what other evidence existed of drills being run during the event, I spent several hours searching online and found statements from a Homeland Security analyst explaining that the Boston Marathon is secretly used to run disaster drills for training purposes. I posted an article on April 18th including the analyst’s statements, and other information I found, making clear that since at least 2007, emergency planners were holding disaster drills and terrorism exercises during the Boston Marathon without the knowledge of the participants or spectators.

In the article I included two presentations I dug up while searching government websites. Both are from the former Chief of Boston EMS, Richard Serino, who was appointed by Obama, as FEMA’s Deputy Administrator in 2009. The first presentation was dated from 2007 and mentioned the Boston Marathon being used in, “Planned Disasters” under the section, “Special Operations.”

The second presentation from 2008 titled, “Marathons – A Tale of Two Cities and the Running of a Planned Mass Casualty Event,” recommends utilizing, “special events and drills as opportunities to plan and train together…” The section titled, “Working with the Media,” states, “Their mission is to get a story. Building a longstanding relationship with journalists and reporters ensures that they get the right story and that they serve as a resource when needed.”

In the article, I highlight a quote from the former policy analyst stating, “Massachusetts is better prepared for a real disaster because every Patriot’s Day and Fourth of July is treated as a ‘disaster.’ He explains that organizers see these, “annual gatherings of hundreds of thousands of people” as perfect opportunities to, “evaluate new technologies” and “exercise disaster plans,” and that they are making the, “citizens of Greater Boston safer in case of a natural catastrophe or terrorist attack.”

Writing for EmergencyManagement.com, Lucien G. Canton suggests that the exercises being run during the Marathon were the reason there were so few fatalities in the attacks. He states that the, ”Boston EMS, as a matter of policy, treats the Boston Marathon and other large events as a mass casualty event. That means that all the equipment, facilities and staff required to respond to a mass casualty event were fully deployed at the time of the attack.” He clarifies that, “this does not mean they were ‘on alert’ or ‘on standby’ but were actually in the field…”

While researching Boston terrorism drills immediately after the attacks, the Operation Urban Shield training program kept coming up. I noticed that Boston had just ran the Urban Shield exercises in November of 2012, and doubted that they would have one scheduled so soon afterwards. Trying to find out when the Urban Shield exercise was scheduled for 2013, I checked the Boston Urban Shield website, but it was taken down at the time, showing only blank screens. Alternative news website, Truthstream Media covered the connection between Urban Shield and the Marathon attacks, highlighting how close the training exercises in 2011 and 2012 were to the real events. But no information had been released yet about Urban Shield 2013.

A few months later Anthony Gucciardi turned up an article from the Boston Globe which had acquired documents detailing plans for Urban Shield 2013. It turns out that, at the time of the bombing of the Marathon, officials in Boston were planning an exercise scenario that involved a domestic terrorist group that would plant backpacks full of explosives around Boston. The drills would require a massive collaboration of the very same law enforcement agencies using the same emergency response and investigation strategies that were required during the actual terror attacks.

Globe reporter Maria Cramer wrote, “before the training exercise was to take place, the city was hit with a real terrorist attack in frighteningly similar fashion.” The documents were given to the Boston Globe by an anonymous official who told them, “the real thing happened before we were able to execute.” The official chose to remain anonymous because the, “details of the planned exercise were confidential.”

The coincidences in the planning went further, “in the scenario, the terrorists would flee police in stolen cars…” and investigators, “would have to track down footage of the bombers caught by street surveillance cameras and the phones of ‘witnesses.’ “There were also false leads to keep investigators guessing,” the official told the Globe. Investigators in the drill, “would have to call on intelligence analysts to figure out which terrorist cell might be threatening the city.”

As amazing as the story was, I couldn’t find any other articles in the Boston Globe about it. No follow up, no statements from the groups running the program, no other coverage in the major media. There were plenty of articles attacking conspiracy theorists, and plenty of coverage of the most inane details of the attacks, but again they were silent on this particular story.

So how many IED drills were being run and planned around the race last year? And if these drills are so effective why aren’t the officials saying anything about them to the public? Was the Boston bombing a “dry-run disaster” that went live? Were the Tsarnaev brothers working as informants involved in a drill or as part of an FBI terror plot? As we approach the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Boston we are still waiting for the authorities to come clean on all the exercises and drills concerning the Marathon, and we are still waiting for the mainstream media to ask some questions.

Just after midnight on May 22, 2013, after 4 and a half hours of interrogation, and shortly after a potential witness was ordered from the scene by a second FBI agent, the FBI agent investigating a critical witness in the Boston Marathon bombing case shot and killed Ibragim Todashev in his own apartment in Orlando, Florida.

The agent fired three bullets into Todashev’s back, apparently as he was trying to flee a brutal interview, and then, when he turned, possibly to surrender, he was shot in the arm and the heart, and hit with a coup de gras into the top of the head. Host Dave Lindorff reports on this story of an apparent FBI rub-out, and guest Elena Teyer, Todashev’s mother-in-law, offers her theory on why the Bureau may have arranged this killing.

Report: FBI Tried to Recruit Boston Bomber

Lawyers for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, say contact with the FBI may have been a 'precipitating event' to the bombings last April. hree days after an FBI agent was cleared of wrongdoing in the bizarre killing of an associate of slain Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, lawyers for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the only surviving bombing suspect, alleged that the FBI attempted to recruit the elder Tsarnaev as an informant.

In court filings on Friday, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s defense team said that new information suggests the FBI interviewed Tamerlan on several occasions before the attack, and even pressured him to surreptitiously report on the Chechen underworld. Lawyers are seeking more information from the agency in order to formulate a death penalty defense that points to Tamerlan as the ideological ringleader of the attack.

“We do not suggest that these contacts are to be blamed and have no evidence to suggest that they were improper, but rather view them as an important part of the story of Tamerlan’s decline,” defense attorney David Bruck wrote. “Since Tamerlan is dead, the government is the source of corroboration that these visits did in fact occur and of what was said during them.”

Mr. Bruck suggested that Tamerlan Tsarnaev could have misread the agency’s intentions, which may have “increased his paranoia and distress.”

Dzhokhar, who is now 20, was injured and captured and his brother killed following a four-day manhunt after the twin explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon almost a year ago. He has pleaded not guilty to a 30-count indictment for his alleged role in an event that killed three people and injured more than 260. Prosecutors will seek the death penalty if he is convicted at a trial now set for November.

Given those stakes, defense attorneys say they want any evidence the FBI has that could show the elder Tsarnaev “supplied the motivation, planning and ideology” behind the attack, and that his younger brother “acted under his domination and control.”

The evidence, he argued, will be used “as building blocks of the defendant’s affirmative case for life.”

The FBI has not yet responded to the request.

Meanwhile, the Bureau has continued to emphatically state that it didn’t know the identities of the two suspected bombers until they were fingerprinted, and have denied any involvement with the brothers aside from following up on a tip from a Russian emissary that the elder Tsarnaev may have been seeking jihad.

“To be absolutely clear: No one was surveilling the Tsarnaevs, and they were not identified until after the shootout,” the FBI said in an Oct. 23 press release, following news reports suggesting agents had actually kept close tabs on the brothers. “Any claims to the contrary are false.”

But such denials, critics say, are complicated by the agency’s famously insular and secretive culture. The New York Times reported last year, for example, that out of 150 cases where suspects have been killed or injured by FBI agents since 1993, no agent has ever been charged with wrongdoing. Such statistics “raise red flags” about the Bureau’s integrity, says David Rudovsky at the University of Philadelphia Law School, coauthor of “Police Misconduct: Law and Litigation.”

In the case of Ibragim Todashev, who allegedly took part with Tamerlan in a robbery turned triple-homicide in Waltham, in 2011, family members have also stated that FBI pressure may have pushed the 20-something ethnic Chechen and mixed martial arts fighter to the brink of violence.

According to a Florida state prosecutor’s report that cleared an FBI agent of wrongdoing, Mr. Todashev was killed by the agent after a five hour interview in a hot Orlando apartment, and after Todashev attacked the agent and a police officer with a “pole of some kind.”

It’s not clear whether Todashev was in official FBI custody at the time of his death, but he had begun to write a confession to his role in the triple homicide and was not handcuffed. The report on the shooting, however, suggests that Todashev became agitated as it became clear that he may be facing arrest and prison time. The report also said Todashev had a chance to flee the apartment, but instead chose to fight.

Todashev’s father, meanwhile, says he believes the FBI tortured and killed his son in order to cover up the agency’s involvement. Todashev’s friends have told reports that FBI agents hounded Todashev constantly after the marathon bombing.

Since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the Bureau has stepped up surveillance of specific racial, ethnic and religious communities, including the use of informants. The tactics have led to dozens of foiled attacks, but has also left the Bureau open to charges of entrapment, not to mention assorted Internet conspiracy theories.

Part of those post-9/11 tactics are the use of “voluntary interviews … often encouraging interviewees to serve as informants in their communities,” writes the American Civil Liberties Union.

In a report last week, the House Committee on Homeland Security suggested that missed leads and failures to connect dots may have kept agents from foiling the marathon attack. But Congress did not assign any specific blame or fault to any of the country’s intelligence agencies, including the FBI, for failure to stop the bombings.

Sandy Hook: Follow the Money – Nearly $100 Million Collected!!

This article is the fourth in a series examining the reported donations that have been made to Newtown/Sandy Hook charities in the wake of the events of 12/14/12.

Now that the dust has settled a bit, it’s time to take another look at the donation totals for Sandy Hook. There are several articles that have been published over the past 15 months with varying degrees of relevance. Some of them gleaned information from CT Attorney General George Jepson’s survey, but at the time of publication, not all respondents had filed their reports. This includes my previous article, Follow the Money Part 3. At the time of that writing, it was impossible to arrive at an accurate total of the charities’ collections.

Since that time, there have been Federal grants made to Newtown, and one very large grant from the state of Connecticut, but we’ll get to that shortly. I would first like to cover the CT Attorney General survey, although out of date at this point, it seems a good place to begin.

By clicking through each report, the totals of money raised by spring of last year can be found. Of the 62 unique charities reporting, the whole dollar sum of all donations amounts to

$22, 277, 070.00

Twenty-two million, two-hundred seventy-seven thousand, seventy dollars.

As I mentioned, this total is inaccurate. It is less than what has actually been raised. How much less we can estimate based on later reporting.

In an article dated 12/14/13, NBC news stated that Sandy Hook Promise had raised 2.3 million dollars. That is $2,262,000.00 more that the $1,238,000.00 they reported in June of 2013 to the CT Attorney General. Let’s add that to our total: $22,277,070 + 2,262,000 =

$24,539, 070.00

Also mentioned in the NBC article was the Sandy Hook-Newtown Community Foundation as having raised “over 12 million”. That is one million+ more than reported originally. Let’s add again:

$25,539,070.00

Newtown Youth and Family Services originally reported 1 million raised, but by the end of the year they claimed 1.2 million.

The NBC reporter included a few smaller charities that I did not find listed on the Jepson and Friends survey. I am attempting to get at the most accurate, conservative total. The 27 million claimed by NBC may well be close to the truth.

What the article in question did not cover were the Federal and State grants awarded to Newtown in the interim. Let’s take a look at those, shall we?

From the Department of Justice, Newtown received 2.5 million dollars, for officer overtime and what-not. “Grants will be awarded to the Connecticut State Police ($663,444), Town of Newtown ($602,293), Town of Monroe ($882,812), and other partner agencies ($296,836), which include 34 surrounding Connecticut jurisdictions.”

$28,239,070.00

The Department of Education provided two School Emergency Response to Violence, or SERV grants of 1.3 million in May of 2013, and 1.9 million in January of this year.

“We will do whatever we can to continue assisting and supporting the healing and recovery of Newtown,” U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said. “This additional grant will help students, teachers, families, school district and community move forward after such an unimaginable tragedy.”

$31,439,070.00

The State of Connecticut pledged to award Newtown an additional 50 million dollars to demolish Sandy Hook School, and build a new and improved one on the very same site.
